Welcome to Argo Gourmet, the fine foods division of Argo Resources. We formed our company in 2006 to make the traditional foods and wines of Istria and Dalmatia available to culinary enthusiasts throughout North America. Istria is the county of Croatia just a short drive or ferry ride from northern Italy. It is in Istria that our story begins.

For centuries, Europeans have recognized food from the Adriatic region as among the most delicious and healthy in the world. The ancient Romans tried to imitate the exquisite oils of Istria by using common oils and herbs, but none came close in flavor and aroma. Even today, three of the Istrian olive oils available through Argo Gourmet are listed in the Italian guide to the world's finest oils, "L'extravirgine."

From olive oils to truffles, regional wines to herbally infused brandies, Croatian foods and wines are still highly prized throughout Europe. Each year over 10 million Germans, Austrians, Italians, Britons, and other vacationers from all over the world flock to Croatia for its spectacular beaches, crystal waters, and delicious food and wine.

Unfortunately, visitors from the U.S. and Canada can bring precious few products back, and can find even fewer locally. For over three years, Argo has been working with Istrian growers and producers, U.S. regulatory agencies, and gourmet chefs to bring previously unavailable Istrian foods and wines to tables throughout North America.

But Argo Gourmet is also taking the next step beyond acquiring and distributing fine Istrian foods and wines. You will find recipies below the product images on our website. You will learn about the soil, climate, and traditional farming methods that have made these foods incomparable over the centuries. You will see state-of-the-art food preparation and preservation to the highest European and international standards.
